- Tour Description: The Tour starts in the barn and includes walking the farm to view and interact with many of the miniature farm animals at LAF. Petting sessions with our animals is included in the tour. Animals are housed in different locations on the farm and so walking across gravel, grass, dirt, and seasonal mud is to be expected. Time is given for petting animals and answering questions you may have. Feel free to take as many photos as you like for personal use.
- Tour Length: The Tour starts at the scheduled time and may last up to 2 hours depending on time spent asking questions and petting animals.
- Group Size: Our tours are private group (your group only) tours. Group maximum size is 12 people.
- Cost: $10 for ages 3 and up and Free for age 2 and under. There is a $50 minimum per group. For example: a group of 2 people will cost $50 , and a group of 6 people over 2 year old will cost $60. Cash is the preferred method of payment due to no internet service in the barn; however, we can accept credit and debit cards in person payments by walking up to the house to get internet service.
- Tour Times: Tours are offered at 10am and 2pm on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. We are closed for Farm Tours from November 17th to March 1st, on Easter, 4th of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and occasionally during birthing times and local hay season (end of June and beginning of July).
- Hand Washing/Sanitizing: Hand washing with soap and water or use of hand sanitizer, is required before and after petting the animals. We have soap, water, and hand sanitizer at the hand washing station in the barn.
- Animals: LAF has miniature horses, Nigerian Dwarf goats, and Kunekune pigs. Tour petting sessions include each type of animal, including babies if they are available. Piglets are generally available April to July. Kid goats generally are here April to October.
- Petting Sessions: The tour includes three petting sessions, one for each type of animal. Prior to each petting session we will go over some basic rules for interacting with the animals. We will describe how to approach the animals or let them come to you so they feel safe and do not get frightened. These rules are for your safety as well as the safety of the animals. Petting is optional; no one is required to pet any animal they do not wish to pet.
- Food and Drink and Pacifiers: Please do not bring food, drink (except water), or pacifiers in the petting sessions.
- Feeding the Animals: We do not allow feeding the animals in the petting sessions. We do allow feeding the outside goats treats we provide. We also allow tossing treats we provide to the outside pigs. Our pigs have never been hand fed so they know hands are for petting, not food. Please do not hand feed the pigs.
- Clothing: Please wear closed toe shoes and clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty. We recommend long pants if you will be interacting with the animals. Be aware that baby animals nibble on things, especially strings, long hair, hats, and anything that dangles. If you have long hair you may want to tie it back.
- No Pets: For the safety of our animals and yours, please do not bring your pet dog or other animals to our farm. If you have a service animal, please inform us prior to your arrival.
- No Smoking: We are a Non Smoking Farm- for safety reasons please do not smoke anywhere on the farm.
- LAF and Be Happy: We want you and the animals to enjoy your visit to LAF. Please follow the rules. We reserve the right to end a tour or petting session if our rules are not followed and/or a situation that is not safe for the attendees or our animals arises.
